Several students asked that we get James Patterson books from the Maximum Ride series. Yay! We have been able to order them and are expecting for them to be available in the next month or so!!!
Last night I finished my first Battle of the Books title, Maximum Ride The Angel Experiment by James Patterson. It was about these children who were genetically altered so that they had wings. They lived together with no adults and these other "mutants" hunted for them continually. I LOVED the book, but I am a James Patterson fan already.
Michael P. loaned me his personal copy for Diary of a Wimpy Kid Third Wheel and I finished that last night, also. If you love the others, you'll l Library Is Busy!
We ordered $3,000 books from Scholastic and are anxiously awaiting their arrival.
One copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Third Wheel has been donated to the library, processed and is in a student's hand. Library helpers for the 1st semester have received initial training, have IDs, and are helping. Battle of the Books will be beginning on Friday, November 30th. We get to purchase $3,000 of books for scholastic!!! Thank you so much for your support!!
I'm kind of crazy because of book fair! It's really fun, but we are all off of the routine in the Library, so it feels hectic! I have MANY new books that I plan to read as soon as I have a free hour or two. This weekend may not provide free time because of my church's yard sale and my Mandy is coming home! :)
Yesterday at 3:15 pm, some wonderful student turned in Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, which means I swiped it to take home to read. It's really kind of funny and I laughed at some of the antics. The "wimpy kid" is Greg, who shares a lot of funny middle-school thoughts. Now I know why they are always off of the shelf!
My very first Cam Jansen book was Cam Jansen and the Triceratops Pops Mystery by David Adler. Cam is able to solve mysteries because of her amazing photographic memory!
I also read Darth Paper Strikes Back; An Origami Yoda Book by Tom Angleberger. This series is new to the library and it's so much fun! Readers continue to wonder if Origami Yoda real Junie B. Jones has a Peep in her Pocket by Barbara Park is adorable. Her class is going on a field trip to a farm and which do you think might be worse: when ponies attack or when rooster peck off people's heads?
This weekend I read 3 kids' chapter books that we have just received in the library. The first is The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger. Someone in my final library class mentioned as a great boys' book author. I think his works will appeal to upper grades boys and girls. The question is... Does the origami finger puppet REALLY predict the future???
Next, Horton Halfpott or the Fiendish Mystery of Smugwick Manor or the Loosening of M'Lady Luggertuck's Corset, also by Tom Angleberger. There is a mystery in this manor. Readers will want to know if Horton Halfpott is really a quiet hardworking kitchen boy, or is he a fiendish thief?? Finally, I was able to read A Thief in the Theater, an American Girl Mystery by Sarah Masters Buckey. Kit, who wants to be a reporter, spends a whole week volunteering in a theater. She and her friend Stirling discover drama that has nothing to do with Shakespeare's plays! I need 5 minutes to process these books on Monday and they will be out for reading! |
